User Experience Director for Large-Scale Customer Interactions

As an Associate Director of Experience Design at Verizon, you will lead and manage teams to create best-in-class design solutions that support the account and device management needs of millions of customers across a large consumer presence in America. You'll collaborate with partners across product, technology, and business to deliver experiences that meet both near-term optimization needs and long-term visions.

About This Role

This hybrid role offers a defined work location with work from home and eight assigned office days per month, set by your manager. The position comes with 40 scheduled weekly hours.

Your Responsibilities
  1. Thoroughly explore, refine, and document design solutions.
  2. Actively engage with user context, conducting target user activities when possible.
  3. Participate in insight-gathering activities and create design solutions leveraging user insights.
  4. Stay updated on industry trends and topics, researching competitive products.
  5. Maintain a working knowledge of UI standards for common platforms (iOS, Android, Web).
  6. Work within Verizon's front-end and back-end technology constraints and capabilities.
  7. Giving and receiving constructive feedback.
  8. Actively identify, escalate, and help remove impediments keeping your team productive.
  9. Identify pros and cons of possible design approaches for decision-making.
  10. Navigate sensitive tradeoffs with higher-level leadership.
  11. Making partners stronger through design-led processes and best practices.
  12. Build relationships and facilitate meetings with Business Unit Owners and executive leadership.
  13. Advocate for the team, recommending approaches for designers aligned with development goals.
  14. Encourage design community participation through group events/activities.
  15. Seek opportunities for thought leadership in the broader design community.
  16. Lead your team, providing performance feedback, reviews, coaching, and direction.

This role requires:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Eight or more years of relevant experience, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
  • Experience leading and managing a design team (4+ designers).
  • Experience with Agile software delivery environments.
  • Experience designing in Figma.
  • Portfolio of professional work.
What We Offer

If you are hired into this role, the compensation range for this position is between $136,000.00 and $253,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive-based position with the potential to earn more.
