Job Summary:

The Morgan County Planning & Building Department is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Inspector/Code Official to join our team. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for reviewing permit applications and conducting thorough building inspections to ensure compliance with state building codes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct on-site building inspections to verify compliance with building codes and regulations
  • Review permit applications to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Collaborate with contractors, architects, and engineers to resolve inspection issues
  • Provide expert guidance on building codes and regulations to the public and other stakeholders
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on industry best practices

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the construction industry or a related field
  • Prior knowledge of building codes and regulations is highly desirable
  • Valid Indiana driver's license required
