Job Summary

We're seeking a highly skilled Commissioning Engineer to join our team in Charlotte, North Carolina. As a key member of our building commissioning team, you'll be responsible for ensuring that our clients' engineering services systems are safely, diligently, and accurately planned, managed, tested, and documented.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a key point of client contact and make full use of the company's management systems to achieve project objectives.
  • Proactively progress commissioning activities throughout the project cycle in conjunction with the General Contractor and vendors.
  • Manage the commissioning process to ensure systems are set to work optimally and verified as such, in accordance with design requirements.
  • Provide consultative advice on commissioning and performance requirements, commissioning strategies, programs, scopes of work, test scripts, etc.
  • Mentor junior staff and deliver projects in full accordance with our appointment, including technical and commercial compliance.
  • Commercially manage project change and ensure full compliance with project-related safety.
  • Provide positive and effective management and set an appropriate example to other members of the team.
  • Assist in continuing to develop the Company's management systems and processes.
Requirements
  • 4 years of industry experience dealing with mechanical, electrical, and controls disciplines.
  • Proven ability to lead commissioning efforts from design through project completion.
  • Passion for sustainability and knowledge of the commissioning process and experience with design, installation, and operation of building systems.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot HVAC, TAB, and Controls and excellent report writing skills.
  • Solid understanding of operational requirements, safety requirements, code inspections, and maintenance considerations.
  • Strong written, verbal communication, and time management skills, with exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Technical knowledge of MEP systems and HVAC expertise.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Multitasking ability.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Commissioning professional certification by an accredited agency.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer preferred.
  • Federal Government commissioning experience.
  • Commissioning certification preferred (CxA, CCP, BCxP, or CBCP).
  • LEED AP or LEED Associate.
  • Management/Commissioning Management.
  • Specific, relevant technical expertise.
  • Proficiency in HVAC load calculation software such as Trace or IES.
