Job Summary

The Building People is seeking a highly skilled Senior Building Controls Technician to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, engineering, and implementing control system hardware and software programming for smart building infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Engineering: Design and engineer control system hardware and software programming based on project plans, specifications, and other contract documents.
  • Programming and Configuration: Program projects with various levels of complexity, perform network troubleshooting, database troubleshooting, and repair programming.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with the engineering team on system configuration, network, and software requirements, graphics, programming, and sequences of operations.
  • Project Management: Develop and configure the sequence of operations, programming, graphics, database, network, and integrations into third-party systems, maintain accurate and thorough project documentation and redlines.
  • Training and Commissioning: Provide owner training as required by the project, execute system commissioning and functional testing, assist in installation of control hardware, and startup and commission new hardware installations.
  • Leadership and Development: Supervise sub-contractors and suppliers as needed, help educate lower-level technicians through on-the-job training as needed.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: At least 3 years of experience with programming, startup, and commissioning of control systems, Niagara N4 certification, experience with multiple manufacturers of controls a plus.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, programming skills, strong analytical skills, strong interactive and communication skills, strong troubleshooting skills, experience with electronics and basic electrical circuits, thorough understanding of and ability to use appropriate tools, excellent customer service, and ability to work well with others.
Physical Requirements
  • Physically able to climb overhead or crawl under spaces to complete jobs.
  • Must be willing to work at heights.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at times.
