KDMT Paramedic

The KDMT Paramedic position involves safely transporting patients to and from private residences, nursing facilities, and hospitals. Responding to emergency calls, the paramedic provides immediate care to critically ill and injured patients, and transports them to a medical facility.

• Transport patients to and from private residences, nursing facilities, and hospitals, following instructions from dispatchers and safely driving the ambulance to specific locations.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections, ensuring the ambulance and equipment are clean and well-maintained.
• Administer medical treatment and transport sick or injured persons to a medical facility or between medical facilities.
• Remove or assist in removing patients from accident or incident scenes, determining the nature and extent of their illness or injury, and establishing treatment.
• Assist treatment center admitting personnel in obtaining patient record information.

• High School diploma or GED and completion of an approved Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (EMT-P) program.
• Active State of Kentucky EMT-P certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• Current Driver's License.
• Annual emergency vehicle operators course completion.

The KDMT Paramedic works in a fast-paced environment, constantly exposed to blood and/or body fluids and infection. The noise level is moderate.

• Occasionally required to maintain a stationary position (standing or sitting).
• Frequently required to walk and move about.
• Frequently required to operate a computer and other equipment.
• Constantly required to lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds.
• Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
