Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Healthcare Coder to join our team at Jefferson Healthcare. As a key member of our Health Information Management team, you will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting medical records to ensure accurate and consistent coding of diagnoses and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and interpret medical records to assign accurate ICD-10 CM/PCS and CPT codes
  • Collaborate with physicians and clinicians to ensure proper documentation practices
  • Develop and maintain coding policies and procedures
  • Participate in education and training programs to stay up-to-date on coding guidelines and regulations

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required
  • CCS or RHIT certification preferred
  • Two years' experience assigning ICD-10 CM/PCS and CPT codes in an acute care facility
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician (CCSP), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) preferred
  • Successful completion of a medical coding course preferred
  • Competent in the utilization of an electronic medical record, and computerized coding/abstracting systems preferred
