Senior Principal Electronics Product Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Principal Engineer, Electronics Product Design to join our team at RTX. This is a hybrid position that allows working remotely from home up to two days per week. Infrequent travel may be required to support new product development technical reviews.
About the RoleThis is a key leadership position responsible for leading electronic hardware design and certification efforts for a variety of aircraft and engine applications. The successful candidate will have a strong background in electronics product development, including customer requirements, hardware and software partitioning, and interface with other Line Replaceable Units (LRUs).
Key Responsibilities- Lead electronic hardware design and certification efforts for aircraft and engine applications.
- Develop airborne product specifications, technical drawings, environmental qualification test plans, and engineering reports in accordance with DO160G standards.
- Coordinate with Software Engineers in the development and automated testing of Embedded applications software.
- Coordinate with external contract resources to complete detailed engineering analysis and/or product certification or reliability testing.
- Create and change 3D CAD drawings and models of production products.
- Issue technical documentation and conduct airborne product reviews compliant with internal RTX General Equipment Specifications and Standards.
- Continuously improve products through design enhancements and software upgrades.
- Identify and propose new product concepts and enhancements as well as manage component obsolescence risks for fielded products.
- Support manufacturing and field installation requirements and lead efforts for continuous process improvements.
- Lead updates to internal procedures to retain compliance with FAA, ISO, and AS requirements.
- Lead continuous product cost optimization initiatives.
The successful candidate will have a Master's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field and at least 8 years of experience as an Electronics Product Design Engineer or related role. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field and at least 10 years of progressive experience as an Electronics Product Design Engineer or related role would be acceptable.
The candidate will also have a strong background in design and development of electronic products, including experience with Embedded microcontrollers, high-performance microprocessors, and peripheral electronics design, as well as experience with printed circuit board layout for EMI source control and thermal management techniques.
The candidate will also have experience with performing electronic circuit performance, thermal, and reliability analyses, as well as experience with electronic test and measurement equipment and familiarity with DO160G environmental qualification standards.
The candidate will also have expertise in DO-254 standards and experience with design experience in analog measurement, high-speed digital circuits, and FPGA firmware development.
The candidate will also have strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
What We OfferRTX offers a competitive salary range of $118,000 - $246,000, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
The successful candidate will also be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs, depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
