Facility Maintenance Specialist

The Facility Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in the upkeep and repair of facilities and their associated equipment. This position involves overseeing, training, and guiding fellow technicians to ensure a secure environment for all stakeholders, including employees, clients, and visitors. Additionally, the specialist may be tasked with security responsibilities in the absence of designated personnel and perform various related duties as needed. This is a non-exempt role.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance and Repair

  • Directs the maintenance and repair of control systems and related equipment to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Oversees the fire alarm system, responds to alerts, replaces faulty components, and resets the system as necessary.
  • Installs, repairs, and tests electrical circuits, devices, appliances, and lighting systems as required.
  • Manages inventory and parts ordering with support from other team members.

General Facility Maintenance and Security Oversight

  • Acts as the lead technician and assumes the director's responsibilities in their absence, under the guidance of the Director of Operations.
  • Provides training and development for department technicians.
  • Ensures compliance with building codes and regulations while maintaining all physical structures.
  • Operates and oversees the potable water supply and sewage treatment systems as required.
  • Conducts maintenance and repairs on electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
  • Performs routine inspections and testing of emergency generators and related equipment.
  • Completes minor maintenance tasks as requested, such as changing light bulbs and performing light carpentry.
  • Carries out assigned security duties to maintain appropriate facility oversight.

Documentation and Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintains detailed records of inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on systems and equipment.
  • Keeps training documentation for the skill development of department technicians.
  • Generates monthly maintenance activity reports for the Director of Operations.
  • Provides insights and recommendations to management regarding hiring, evaluations, and technician performance.
  • Participates in the departmental on-call rotation as required.

Qualifications

Education and Training: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience: A minimum of five years of relevant experience and/or training, or a combination of education and experience. A background in general maintenance is essential, with hospital maintenance experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Exhibits professionalism in all assigned responsibilities.
  • Available to work various shifts as needed.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Familiar with fire alarm systems, plant tools and equipment, and safety protocols.
