GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Skin Care Consultant (SCC) plays a crucial role in enhancing sales within the skin care category by engaging customers to understand their unique needs, guiding them in selecting and purchasing skin care products, and upholding overall store standards, including cleanliness and inventory replenishment. They assist the Experience Manager (EM) by focusing on performance (service and retail sales along with in-store events), people (guest service and team culture), and process (operational procedures and compliance standards). This role requires a solid understanding of skin care needs, concerns, and functions, a genuine passion for the beauty industry, exceptional customer service skills, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge effectively.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)

Performance

Contribute to achieving or surpassing the store's objectives related to retail and service sales, customer loyalty (including credit), retail shrinkage, and omni-channel sales, with a specific emphasis on the skin care category as established by Ulta Beauty. Ensure every customer receives outstanding service by welcoming and engaging each guest, tailoring service to their individual needs, and suggesting complementary products and/or services. Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges with courtesy and professionalism. Regularly conduct skin care assessments and product demonstrations with customers to boost sales and enhance the customer experience. Schedule appointments for, and assist in the execution of, services and in-store events that provide an exceptional customer experience while achieving skin care sales targets. Take the initiative to stay updated on new and existing industry trends, products, and services during work hours and be knowledgeable about the ingredients and benefits of these trends, products, and services to better assist customers. Maintain consistent and punctual attendance.

People

Foster an inclusive atmosphere that supports colleagues, peers, and the internal and external customers served. Communicate the advantages of the customer loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app, to customers on the sales floor and when prompted by Ulta Beauty's systems. Collaborate with managers and associates throughout the store to contribute to business growth. Actively participate in ongoing training, including brand and category education, to facilitate continuous professional development and enhance skin care sales performance.

Process

Be knowledgeable of and ensure adherence to Ulta Beauty's policies, procedures, and standards. Comply with Ulta Beauty's dress code. Drive sales by keeping assigned work areas stocked, labeled, and organized, ensuring testers are available and maintained in accordance with hygiene standards. Maintain exemplary store operational standards, including cleanliness of the sales floor, restrooms, cash wrap, backroom, and break area. Participate in executing merchandise resets, planograms, marketing displays, physical inventory processes, and processing shipments using Ulta Beauty's technology and best practices. Safeguard company assets by adhering to loss prevention best practices and delivering exceptional customer service. Carry out other operational tasks as directed.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

A high school diploma is preferred

Experience

At least 1 year of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience

Skills

Demonstrate significant proficiency in sales, products, and customer service Exhibit a passion for skin care, solution-oriented products, and consultative selling Ability to cultivate and maintain strong customer relationships Capability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team Ability to effectively manage guest concerns and prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic environment Strong communication abilities

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Availability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays Participation in brand-sponsored training sessions

WORKING CONDITIONS

Frequent mobility throughout the store during shifts Regular standing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, and twisting during shifts Continuous lifting and/or moving of items up to 10 lbs. during shifts Ongoing coordination and manipulation of objects during shifts
