About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Creative Event Specialist at Michaels Inc., where we prioritize the wellbeing of our teams by providing robust benefits for both full-time and part-time Team Members.

The ideal candidate will have excellent people skills, with experience working with children and children's events. They will also possess good communication skills, including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication as well as listening skills.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Event Planning and Coordination: Plan and coordinate multiple events at once, including children's birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
  • Customer Service: Deliver friendly customer service by helping customers shop, locate products, and provide them with solutions.
  • Event Execution: Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event, while ensuring client satisfaction for scheduled events.
  • Administrative Tasks: Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed.
  • Communication: Communicate events with clients and store team members.
  • Problem-Solving: Adjust plans and events based on client feedback and needs.
  • Maintenance: Uphold the company's cleanliness and safety standards.

Requirements
  • Energetic Personality: Energetic and enthusiastic personality required to handle job stress and interact effectively with others.
  • Retail Experience: Retail and/or customer service experience required.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication as well as listening skills.

Work Environment

You will work in a public retail store setting taking care of our customers. All public areas are climate controlled, but some stock rooms may not be climate controlled. Some outdoor work may be assigned if necessary. The frame shop contains glass cutter and heat press, and work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.

Compensation

The total base pay range for this position is $15.13 - $17.70 per hour, depending on your qualifications and location.
