Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Cybersecurity Incident Response Specialist will be responsible for delivering comprehensive security incident response services to our clientele. This position encompasses all facets of analysis, containment, eradication, and recovery, involving activities such as log analysis, malware examination, evidence gathering, and various forensic tasks that are integral to cybersecurity incident investigations.

This role also includes advising on and implementing technical security solutions while conducting both internal and external security evaluations. These evaluations can range from in-depth technical security reviews to social engineering assessments and overall risk and security posture evaluations. Such assessments may be executed as standalone projects or within a virtual Security Engineer capacity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate as part of the HBS Cybersecurity team to provide consultative and proactive security support to Heartland's client base.
  • Enhance knowledge of additional technologies as required by client needs.
  • Effectively communicate and elucidate security solutions to clients.
  • Assist sales consultants and fellow Engineers with design support, review, validation, and optimization of security technologies and solutions.
  • Contribute to product selection, research, configuration standards, and best practices while educating sales teams on these products and services.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment, taking on leadership and contributory roles as needed, while maintaining professionalism and respect.
  • Lead incident response cases from initiation to conclusion, providing consulting and remediation efforts.
  • Conduct forensic analysis to uncover system artifacts that serve as evidence during cybersecurity incident response activities or digital investigations.
  • Act as a virtual Security Engineer for clients.
  • Participate in on-call duties to support 24/7 incident response services.
  • Manage projects as Heartland is awarded significant contracts, overseeing not only the installation of solutions but also their design and management.
  • Maintain a minimum of 1,350 billable hours per fiscal year, adjusted based on the start date, balancing these requirements with professional development and on-the-job training.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Active Directory.
  • Extensive understanding of Exchange and Gmail.

Preferred Skills, Education, and Certifications:

  • Familiarity with endpoint detection and response software.
  • Experience utilizing digital forensic tools.
  • Knowledge of various firewall manufacturers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Azure.
  • Expertise in backup and restoration technologies.
  • GIAC Certified Incident Handler Certification (GCIH) is advantageous.
