Job Title: Retail Store Assistant Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Retail Store Assistant Manager to join our team at Duluth Trading Company. As a key member of our store leadership team, you will be responsible for driving sales and profitability, leading a high-performing team, and delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Sales and Goals Achievement:
    • Develop and execute strategies to drive sales and profitability, including leading KPI initiatives and training associates.
    • Lead and maintain merchandise presentation, visual merchandising, and sales promotions.
  • Customer Service:
    • Provide exceptional customer service, demonstrating a high level of engagement and setting expectations for the team.
    • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Duluth brand and product knowledge to provide solution-oriented service.
    • Partner with the Store Manager to develop optimum staffing levels and floor coverage to engage customers.
  • Human Resources/Leadership Skills:
    • Recruit, hire, train, motivate, and lead employees, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and company values.
    • Exhibit sound decision-making skills, perform with minimal supervision, and provide clear and consistent feedback to employees.
    • Assist the Store Manager in ensuring all Human Resource protocols and documentation are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Store Operations:
    • Understand inventory and expense control, leading the team in handling merchandise receipts and transfers.
    • Lead the team in visual merchandising, cash handling, and reporting functions.
    • Ensure the store is secured, responds to alarms, and maintains a safe environment for employees and customers.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Merchandising preferred.
  • Three years of retail experience with a minimum of one year of management experience.
  • Retail management experience is preferred, with specialty retail leadership experience a plus.
  • Must be customer-centric, adaptable, and able to motivate and lead others.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to make good decisions, and goal-oriented with a results-driven approach.
  • Exemplifies high standards of integrity and trust, with excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and function as part of a team, with a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
Environmental Factors:
  • Must be able to stand or walk for up to eight hours a day.
  • Frequent reaching, bending, and twisting, with frequent use of repetitive hand to finger motions and reaching with hands and arms.
  • Frequently lifting up to twenty pounds, occasionally lifting up to 40 pounds, with the ability to push/pull up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders, reach, and bend, with work in temperatures ranging from degrees, especially in stock room areas.
  • Able to use common tools such as a hammer, screwdriver, and wrench for floor sets, with use of a computer up to 60% of the time throughout the day.
