The Healthcare Assistant (HA) performs a range of patient care, technical, and administrative tasks to support practitioners and other healthcare team members in delivering high-quality patient care within the healthcare system.

The Healthcare Assistant plays a vital role as a team member in the clinic's overall operations. They are responsible for managing the patient flow for assigned providers (as applicable) each day, executing duties and procedures as outlined in the Primary Responsibilities section.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare patients and families for examination or procedure

2. Record vital signs and other patient information in accordance with clinic policy

3. Assist with procedures as instructed

4. Perform clerical tasks, transport patients, clean and restock examination rooms, and fulfill other requests to maintain clinic efficiency

5. Identify symptoms of common medical conditions, recognize abnormal signs, and report new or existing pain to the RN and/or provider immediately

6. Conduct blood draws as directed

7. Provide excellent customer service

8. Serve as a liaison between patients/families and healthcare providers.

Qualifications:

Required:
1. Education that qualifies for Medical Assistant Certification

2. Completion of a medical assistant program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP); or

3. Military training or experience may also fulfill the training and experience requirement


4. Certified Medical Assistant in the State of Washington, with familiarity of the State's conduct and standards of practice.


5. Interim Certified Medical Assistant in the State of Washington, with knowledge of the state's conduct and standards of practice.

6. Surgical Technologist Registration in the State of Washington, with familiarity of the State's conduct and standards of practice (Application must be submitted within the first 30 days of hire)

7. Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent course, such as by the American Red Cross), with renewal required every two years

8. Proficient in email and word processing systems

9. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

10. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, complex healthcare environment

11. Capacity to multitask, prioritize, and solve problems

12. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing

13. Capability to follow directions and guidance

14. Ability to recognize limitations and seek assistance

15. Ability to identify learning needs and plan for learning opportunities

The hourly pay range for this position is from $25.71 to $36.60, with compensation based on experience and qualifications.

This position may qualify for a sign-on bonus, up to $3,000.
