We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Psychiatric Technician to join our team at the University of Utah Health Hospitals and Clinics. As a key member of our interdisciplinary treatment team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to individuals with mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, including observing and documenting patient behavior and reporting any concerns to the Registered Nurse.
- Perform or assist with patient admissions, including gathering routine information for nursing assessment and searching patients and belongings for contraband.
- Orient patients and their families to the facility and its policies and procedures.
- Escort patients to off-unit appointments and activities, using therapeutic interventions to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and others.
- Assist with providing a therapeutic milieu for patients, including encouraging participation in recreational activities and group therapies.
- Support patients in developing behavioral expectations and participate in patient care team conferences to share observations and contribute to treatment planning.
- 6 months of behavioral health or direct patient care experience, including CNA, MA, HCA, or Teacher's aide/assistant.
- Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system.
This position involves intensive work that may exert up to 50 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects, such as medical equipment or patients. Workers in this position may be exposed to infectious diseases.
