Job Description

About this role:

The Salvation Army Central Territory is seeking a Part-Time Store Donation Attendant to join our team. As a Donation Attendant, you will provide excellent customer service to our donors and aid in maintaining a clean and well-organized donation experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Present a professional appearance while adhering to The Salvation Army dress and appearance code.
  • Maintain a friendly and helpful demeanor throughout the transaction with a donor, ensuring each donor is greeted and asked if they need assistance.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized donation area.
  • Responsible for all operations and security matters while on duty, including safeguarding materials and tracking donations.
  • Receive and receipt all donated materials from donors, including attempting to obtain an email address from as many donors as possible.
  • Courteously advise donors of material that is not acceptable per Salvation Army policy.
  • Advise donors with heavy or large items of our home pick-up service.
  • When applicable, sort donations as they come in.
  • Report complaints, damage, and any injuries occurring on or near the donation area for which The Salvation Army may become liable.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while keeping a positive attitude.
  • Physical Requirements of the position include standing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, and lifting/pushing lbs.
  • Must be available weekends.
  • Minimum Qualifications: Education: High School Degree or currently pursuing. Experience: Prior experience preferred, but not required.
  • Skills/Abilities: Ability to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with customers, management and coworkers. Basic computer skills including but not limited to the use of the Point of Sales System; the payroll program and all other programs or systems that are adopted by the TSA ARC. Ability to give change accurately.
