Educational Requirements:Must be a current student at the University of Kentucky.
Preferred Experience:Knowledge of the Equine Industry is advantageous.
Licenses/Certifications:Valid Driver's License required.
Physical Demands:Must be able to lift and transport materials and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Work Schedule:Approximately 15-17 hours per week, with potential evening and weekend commitments.
Position Overview:The Equine Communication and Student Relations Internship presents a unique opportunity for students to engage with various facets of Equine Programs while enhancing their skills in communication, leadership, and event management. Interns will assist in organizing events and initiatives aimed at fostering community within the Equine Science and Management program, contributing to publications, and leading special projects aligned with their interests.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in the creation, editing, and management of content for newsletters, including the Wildcat Canter and Graduate Gallop, collaborating closely with the Communications Director.
- Draft and distribute press releases.
- Write profiles and feature articles about the program and its members.
- Manage and contribute to social media platforms.
- Document equine events through writing, photography, and videography.
- Represent Equine Programs at industry-related events, engaging with prospective students, alumni, and stakeholders.
- Support the management of email communications and databases.
- Assist in organizing promotional materials and maintaining inventory.
- Monitor news coverage and trends relevant to Equine Programs.
- Provide teaching assistance, including preparing educational resources.
- Facilitate the creation of online surveys and assist with data management.
- Contribute to the development of recruitment materials for the undergraduate program.
- Other duties as assigned.
