Join Our Team as a Cardiac Surgical Technologist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cardiac Surgical Technologist to join our team at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. As a key member of our Operating Room team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the success of surgical procedures.

About the Role

This is a full-time position that requires a high level of clinical expertise and attention to detail. You will work closely with our surgical team to prepare patients for surgery, maintain aseptic technique, and assist with surgical procedures. Your strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment will be essential in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the surgical team in preparing patients for surgery and maintaining aseptic technique
  • Participate in the planning of care for patients undergoing surgical procedures
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure the success of surgical procedures
  • Provide ongoing feedback to the Perioperative Practice Coordinator concerning preference cards and tray contents
  • Respond appropriately to crisis situations and initiate interventions within the scope of responsibility

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited Operating Room Technician program or minimum 2-year ORT experience
  • Certification by an approved certification body (e.g. Association of Surgical Technologists or National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)

Shift/Hours

This position requires a 80-hour workweek, with a mix of 8 and 12-hour shifts. You will work Monday through Friday, with rotating weekends and on-call obligations.
