ROLE: Head Coach for Boys Wrestling
LOCATION: Clear Creek Amana Community School District
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for guiding the wrestling team through training and competitive events.
REPORTS TO: Activities Director
SUPERVISION: Oversees student athletes and assistant coaching staff
REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid coaching certification from the State of Iowa
- Strong interpersonal skills and a readiness to take on responsibilities.
- Ability to effectively manage student athletes while fostering positive relationships.
- Passion for working with youth, staff, and parents.
- Professional representation of the school, including confidentiality, effective communication, regular attendance, and appropriate attire.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure constant supervision of all athletes during practices and events.
- Participate in annual coaching meetings to review school policies.
- Organize and conduct meetings with parents to communicate policies and expectations prior to competitions.
- Ensure completion and submission of all required physical forms and concussion protocols.
- Prepare and distribute equipment and uniforms for athletes.
- Enforce training rules and eligibility standards, reporting any violations.
- Assist in organizing home events and preparing facilities for use.
- Ensure all athletes have completed medical treatment consent forms available for practices and competitions.
- Oversee the maintenance of locker rooms, showers, and training facilities.
- Secure facilities after events and practices.
- Attend all practice sessions and competitions, or be available for scouting duties.
- Report injuries to the athletic trainer and assist in completing necessary accident documentation.
- Notify media of event outcomes and help compile statistics for reporting.
- Assist in the collection and inventory of equipment and uniforms at season's end.
- Recommend new equipment purchases to the activities director.
- May be required to fulfill extended contract duties if the team advances in competition.
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Execute all tasks assigned by the activities director, building principal, or superintendent.
- Conduct formal evaluations of assistant coaches at the conclusion of each season.
