About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mobile Diesel Mechanic II to join our team at Cox Automotive. As a Mobile Diesel Mechanic II, you will be responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Scheduled Preventative Maintenance (PM) and DOT Inspections: Conduct regular inspections and maintenance on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Diagnose and Repair Vehicle Issues: Use advanced diagnostic techniques to identify and repair problems with vehicle systems, including electrical, brake, cooling, and engine systems.
  • Perform Minor Adjustments and Repairs: Make minor adjustments and repairs to vehicle equipment, including starters, alternators, fan clutches, and engine electronics.
  • Inspect and Test Vehicle Systems: Inspect and test vehicle systems to identify malfunctions and ensure they are working properly.
  • Communicate with Clients and Customers: Work with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, and resolve their problems.
  • Manage Concurrent Tasks and Prioritize Work: Manage multiple tasks and prioritize work to ensure timely completion of assignments.
  • Document Work Performed: Document work performed, including repairs, maintenance, and inspections, using company-issued iOS devices and proprietary TRAIT application.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: Possess a high school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of experience in a related field.
  • Valid Driver's License: Hold a valid driver's license and have a safe driving record.
  • DOT Medical Card: Possess a valid DOT Medical Card or be able to obtain one prior to employment.
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification: Obtain ASE certification in T8 (PMI) within 18 months of employment.
  • Physical Demands: Be able to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time, and perform moderately heavy laboring work.
Preferred Certifications
  • ASE T3 (Drivetrain) Certification: Possess ASE T3 certification in drivetrain systems.
  • ASE T4 (Brakes) Certification: Possess ASE T4 certification in brake systems.
  • ASE T5 (Suspension) Certification: Possess ASE T5 certification in suspension systems.
  • ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems) Certification: Possess ASE T6 certification in electrical and electronic systems.
  • ASE T7 (HVAC) Certification: Possess ASE T7 certification in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
  • ASE 608/609 Certification: Possess ASE 608/609 certification in refrigeration systems.
