Job Overview

As a Surgical Technologist Specialist at Eateam, you will play a crucial role in the surgical team, ensuring a safe and efficient operating environment. Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of essential functions that support surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation and Setup: Collaborate with the surgical team to discuss specific requirements prior to surgery. Scrub in timely to prepare instruments and ensure the operative site is aseptically cleaned and ready.
  • Instrument Management: Organize and maintain instrument tables meticulously to prevent damage and ensure accurate counts. Identify and rectify any discrepancies in instrument trays promptly.
  • Operating Room Setup: Arrange the operating room according to the scheduled surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary sterile supplies and equipment are ready for use.
  • Instrument Functionality: Monitor the functionality of surgical instruments and equipment throughout the procedure, ensuring everything operates smoothly.
  • Surgical Counts: Conduct thorough counts of sponges, sharps, instruments, and miscellaneous items in accordance with established protocols.
  • Anticipation of Needs: Proactively anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team, providing necessary sterile supplies and support during the procedure.
  • Specimen Handling: Follow proper protocols for receiving and passing surgical specimens to the circulating nurse, ensuring verification of specimen sources.
  • Post-Procedure Duties: Assist in applying surgical dressings and disassemble instrumentation at the end of the procedure, ensuring proper disposal of waste.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Ensure the operating room is cleaned and all equipment is returned to storage after each case, adhering to infection control policies and safety guidelines.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain an accurate inventory of clean and sterilized surgical equipment, ordering supplies as necessary and documenting usage.
Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program.
  • Experience: Less than one year of relevant experience.
  • Certification: Hold Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification or equivalent.
