About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team at St. David's Surgical Hospital. As a key member of our surgical team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the operating room suite, including cleaning and sterilization of equipment.
  • Provide instrumentation and assist the surgeon during procedures.
  • Perform patient care within the scope of training and under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Prepare patients, equipment, and operating rooms for each procedure/surgery.
  • Maintain a clean and safe operating room suite for surgical patients.
  • Perform intra-operative management of assigned procedures and anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
  • Assist the circulating nurse in maintaining correct instrument counts.
  • Be responsible for supply and equipment management, including determining needs, ensuring availability, and maintaining equipment through proper sterilization.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Surgical Technologist is preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Graduate from an accredited education program for Surgical Technology or an appropriate training program in the US Armed Forces or US Public Health Service.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as per St. David's Healthcare policy.
  • Surgical Technologist certification from a recognized organization, such as the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.

St. David's Surgical Hospital is a destination surgical facility located in north Austin, Texas. We are a campus of St. David's North Austin Medical Center and feature 40 inpatient rooms, several operating suites, pre-op and PACU bays, and an intensive care unit (ICU). Our campus specializes in orthopedic, neurological, bariatric, gynecological, and urological surgeries, as well as imaging and pharmacy services.
