Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nutritionist I to join our team at the State of Delaware. As a Nutritionist I, you will play a critical role in assessing nutrition risks and needs, determining eligibility for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), and providing nutrition education and counseling to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial and re-certification assessments to determine eligibility for WIC services
  • Provide nutrition education and counseling to clients, including breastfeeding support and healthy eating guidance
  • Consult with physicians and healthcare professionals to assess and determine nutritional needs and dietary restrictions
  • Develop and implement nutritional care plans for regular and modified diets
  • Oversee the quality and quantity of food served to ensure compliance with prescribed diets and established requirements for nutrient content
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to food service personnel, healthcare professionals, and community organizations
  • Coordinate nutritional services with other health programs and plan, organize, and conduct training for food service personnel and healthcare professionals
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in Food and Nutrition from a US regionally accredited college or university and coursework approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association (ADA).

You will also need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
