Job Summary:

We are looking for a talented individual with 2-4 years of experience in clay fabrication, specifically in slab-built ceramics. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of best practices for slab-built ceramics and be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of our fabrication team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and assemble production ceramics, including large-scale furniture, planters, and sculptures, using slab-building methods.
  • Follow precise renderings and production instructions to ensure high-quality results.
  • Fabricate ceramic sculptural works with precise measurements, taking into account shrinkage rates and other factors.
  • Work collaboratively with the fabrication team and cross-departmentally as needed.
  • Problem-solve with clay, including during construction, drying, and post-firing processes.
Requirements:
  • 2-3 years of experience in hand-building tools, such as various ribs, knives, and joining techniques.
  • Previous professional studio experience.
  • Ability to receive, understand, and apply information in a timely manner within the company training period.
  • Clear and concise communication skills.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods, utilize hands and arms in various positions, and lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
Physical Demands:

The successful candidate must be able to perform a wide range of physical tasks, including pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, squatting, turning, reaching, and lifting, in excess of 50 pounds with assistance. They must also be able to work in a studio environment with cement floors, air conditioning, and heat.
