Position Overview:
Deliver direct nursing care in alignment with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilizes medical-surgical nursing standards to enhance the quality of care and life for patients and their families by systematically assessing the effectiveness of nursing practices.
- Builds effective relationships and advocates for patients and families to create personalized care plans.
- Employs the nursing process to formulate and execute care plans, gather assessment data, establish nursing diagnoses, identify expected outcomes, and evaluate patient progress.
- Develops management strategies considering various dimensions of health responses to actual and potential health issues.
- Demonstrates awareness of the effects of illness on each patient's overall status.
- Exhibits leadership by coordinating with patients, families, and the healthcare team to assess needs, set goals, plan interventions, and evaluate outcomes.
- Engages in effective communication to collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare providers, ensuring care is culturally sensitive and ethical.
- Educates patients and families on health promotion and comfort measures.
- Promotes a healthy work environment by mentoring nursing colleagues and students.
- Applies evidence-based practices to ensure nursing care meets the age-specific and clinical needs of patients.
- Maintains a state of alertness and safety in all tasks.
- May conduct point-of-care testing as per policies.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program or equivalent education for licensure.
EXPERIENCE:
- No prior experience required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Frequent verbal communication and active listening.
- Constant standing and walking.
- Regular lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Frequent use of vision for near and far distances.
- Occasional lifting of heavier objects and patients.
