Position Overview:

Deliver direct nursing care in alignment with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilizes medical-surgical nursing standards to enhance the quality of care and life for patients and their families by systematically assessing the effectiveness of nursing practices.
  • Builds effective relationships and advocates for patients and families to create personalized care plans.
  • Employs the nursing process to formulate and execute care plans, gather assessment data, establish nursing diagnoses, identify expected outcomes, and evaluate patient progress.
  • Develops management strategies considering various dimensions of health responses to actual and potential health issues.
  • Demonstrates awareness of the effects of illness on each patient's overall status.
  • Exhibits leadership by coordinating with patients, families, and the healthcare team to assess needs, set goals, plan interventions, and evaluate outcomes.
  • Engages in effective communication to collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare providers, ensuring care is culturally sensitive and ethical.
  • Educates patients and families on health promotion and comfort measures.
  • Promotes a healthy work environment by mentoring nursing colleagues and students.
  • Applies evidence-based practices to ensure nursing care meets the age-specific and clinical needs of patients.
  • Maintains a state of alertness and safety in all tasks.
  • May conduct point-of-care testing as per policies.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program or equivalent education for licensure.

EXPERIENCE:

  • No prior experience required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Frequent verbal communication and active listening.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Regular lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequent use of vision for near and far distances.
  • Occasional lifting of heavier objects and patients.

Licenses / Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - applicable state licensure
