Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Peer Support Specialist to join our team at Meta House. As an Addiction Recovery Mentor, you will play a vital role in providing hope and encouragement to women in recovery.

About the Role

  • Assist clients in making healthy decisions that positively impact their lives, building relationships based on respect and dignity.
  • Model and mentor the recovery process, sharing life experiences and lessons learned as a person in recovery.
  • Accompany clients to community appointments, advocating as needed, and facilitating groups and activities.
  • Collaborate with coworkers and staff via phone and email to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Work closely with direct supervisors to guarantee coverage of all services, including co-facilitation of group curriculum and individual client sessions.
  • Uphold and review all policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Engage in required supervision, staff meetings, training, and health regulations deemed necessary by policies and regulations.
  • Perform record-keeping and paperwork related to treatment and work at Meta House.
  • Assist with safe transportation of clients and other duties to support general program operations.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Self-identified person in recovery from a substance use disorder for at least two years.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Peer Specialist Certification required.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license required.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work and communicate within a team-oriented workplace.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Able to work cooperatively with other agencies.
  • Able to work with a culturally diverse client population.
  • Flexibility and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, and other applications.

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, Meta House offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.

Location

This position is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with opportunities to work in various settings, including residential and outpatient programs.
