Position Overview

Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health is seeking a Certified Clinical Assistant (CCA) for a full-time role within our urgent care services.

Location:
Rohrerstown Road Urgent Care

Work Schedule:
Full-Time, with a rotation every third weekend and participation in several holidays throughout the year.

This role involves cross-training in both clinical responsibilities and front desk operations, ensuring comprehensive patient care.

Our urgent care teams collaborate to maintain optimal coverage across various locations, which may require occasional travel to meet operational needs.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is mandatory.
- Medical Assistant Certification from a recognized institution (AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or NAHTR). If not currently certified, candidates must have completed a Medical Assistant training program prior to employment and obtain certification within six months of hire.

CPR Certification:
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- One to two years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a primary or specialty care setting.

Key Responsibilities:
Qualified candidates will be expected to:
- Prepare patients for their appointments using established protocols.
- Administer prescribed injections in accordance with practice guidelines.
- Provide preliminary observations to healthcare providers.
- Prepare and dispense medications as directed by the provider, adhering to all regulations.
- Assist healthcare providers with various procedures and examinations.
- Conduct Point of Care Testing, including but not limited to flu, urine, and strep tests.
- Change dressings and remove sutures as needed.
- Offer clinical guidance via phone or electronic communication, following established protocols.
- Manage prescription refills as directed by the provider.
- Maintain cleanliness and supply levels in exam rooms after each patient visit.
- Participate in patient outreach for preventive and chronic disease services.
- Facilitate care coordination among specialists and assist with referrals and community resources.
- Engage in performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient experience and care quality.
- Attend daily meetings with the healthcare provider.
- Uphold patient confidentiality in accordance with health privacy regulations.

Travel Requirements:
For regional roles, regular travel to various sites may be necessary to support operational needs.
