Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Manager to lead our team at Builders FirstSource. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the location to achieve maximum sales and profits with available resources.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building materials industry, with a proven track record of success in managing sales, operations, production, delivery, purchasing, and inventory control. You will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the location, developing and implementing inventory control programs, and recruiting, hiring, and training employees.

As a General Manager, you will be expected to motivate employees, maintain a productive workforce, and train successor management. You will also be responsible for reviewing and approving wage and salary increases, establishing objectives and performance measures, and recommending capital improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the location to achieve maximum sales and profits with available resources
  • Oversee the daily operations of the location, including sales, operations, production, delivery, purchasing, and inventory control
  • Develop and implement inventory control programs to meet location inventory levels and turns
  • Recruit, hire, and train employees, and maintain a productive workforce
  • Review and approve wage and salary increases, and establish objectives and performance measures
  • Recommend capital improvements, and institute a cost-effective vehicle and equipment maintenance program

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university
  • Four years related managerial experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Prior experience in building materials industry
