Job Description:

The Technology Services Division of our client is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in infrastructure and application management, with a focus on cloud and network engineering.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, deploying, and sustaining a stable and highly performing infrastructure and application environment. This will involve working closely with other IT teams, including Information Security, Service Desk, Quality Assurance, and Production Support, as well as with product vendors.

The position requires a high level of technical expertise, including a thorough understanding of multi-tiered application architecture, Microsoft Windows Server and client operating systems, and Linux Server operating systems. The candidate should also have experience with automation platforms and methods, such as PowerShell.

The ideal candidate will have a strong customer service background and be able to work professionally and effectively with all levels of staff. They should also be able to work independently with minimal supervision and adapt to the changing needs of the agency.

The position is a hybrid role, with the majority of work being done remotely, but with occasional on-site work in Phoenix, AZ. The candidate must be able to work Arizona business hours.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning, deploying, and sustaining a stable and highly performing infrastructure and application environment
  • Working closely with other IT teams, including Information Security, Service Desk, Quality Assurance, and Production Support
  • Managing multi-tiered COTS applications, public-cloud services, physical and virtual servers, mid-tier storage arrays and SAN, security appliances, and Active Directory and group policy
  • Performing IT Service Management functions, including creating tickets, communicating directly with users/IT staff, fielding incident escalations, and thoroughly documenting progress/status

Required skills include:

  • Thorough understanding of multi-tiered application architecture
  • Technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and client operating systems
  • Technical knowledge of Linux Server operating systems
  • Ability to automate operational tasks and routines using PowerShell and/or other automation platforms/methods
  • Proven customer service skills and ability to work professionally and effectively with all levels of staff
  • Proven organizational skills
  • Demonstrated problem-resolution skills and analytical/critical thinking abilities
  • Ability to work within established operational policies and guidelines
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to adapt to the changing needs of the agency

Preferred skills include:

  • Experience working in a 24x7, mission-critical enterprise public cloud and on-premises data center environment
  • One or more relevant industry-accepted certifications related to the following technologies: AWS, Cisco, Microsoft, VMWare, etc.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer/Information Systems or related field, or equivalent experience.

Additional Information:

The position is a hybrid role, with the majority of work being done remotely, but with occasional on-site work in Phoenix, AZ. The candidate must be able to work Arizona business hours.
