Job Description

Burrtec, a leading waste management company, is seeking a skilled Dispatcher to join our team at the Riverside Hauling division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to incoming radio calls from drivers and dispatch calls through proper channels.
  • Maintain effective communication with drivers to ensure quality customer service.
  • Collaborate with Route Supervisors to resolve driver or dispatch issues.
  • Ensure timely completion of daily activities and assignments.
  • Work closely with the Customer Service Call Center to resolve issues and provide quality customer service.
  • Assist drivers with questions regarding service or work orders.
  • Dispatch calls through proper channels, including roll-offs and service calls.
  • Communicate with customers regarding problems in servicing their accounts.
  • Update and maintain front sheets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Handle incoming service orders, direct drivers, and resolve service issues.
  • Work with route managers and the service department to optimize routes.
  • Dispatch drivers to calls as they are received, balancing cost and speed of response.
  • Field incoming calls from customers or the customer service department, managing requests for pick-up or container delivery and ensuring same-day service.
  • Initiate outbound calls to customers while drivers are on-site, resolving pick-up and other issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve potential delivery and pick-up problems before they result in service issues.
  • Ensure same-day service on missed pick-ups by coordinating driver movement in the field.
  • Assist in determining daily driver staffing levels to provide the best mix of responsiveness and productivity.
  • Identify and plan deployment for increases/decreases in route volumes, shifting resources in response to seasonal and other fluctuations.
  • Record and document information and distribute to appropriate departments, including route information, driver productivity, sales and service issues, safety issues, and problem stops.
  • Ensure accuracy and thoroughness of pick-up, container delivery, service, and driver records.

Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Must have ability to effectively interface with drivers and customers.
  • Must have familiarity with the use of a computer.
  • Must have knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Bilingual, preferred.
  • Previous experience as a dispatcher is preferred.

  • Work area is primarily in an office setting and may have fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
