Job Summary

As a Wireless Network Engineer at the University of California, San Francisco, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective wireless communication and digital connectivity of the UCSF community across various missions. You will be responsible for designing, configuring, and maintaining the UCSF wireless network, ensuring systems operate at peak efficiency with minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement wireless network infrastructure to meet the needs of the UCSF community
  • Provide network engineering and technical support for wireless network infrastructure
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with industry best practices and IT policies
  • Develop and maintain documentation for wireless network infrastructure
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry standards to provide cutting-edge wireless solutions

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in network services, field services, or information technology
  • Advanced understanding of LAN/WAN and network protocols
  • Experience with wireless monitoring tools and RF design
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks

Preferred Qualifications

Additional qualifications include:

  • 7+ years of experience in network services, field services, or information technology
  • Advanced knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to IT systems
  • Experience with Aruba Wireless and ClearPass NAC
  • Ability to work with agility in a fast-paced environment
