Job Description:
Job Summary:
- Ensures quality standards are upheld by approving incoming materials from suppliers and rejecting substandard materials, which may lead to work-in-process rejections.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret specifications and part drawings, conduct inspections, and perform testing on incoming materials before they are released to inventory.
- Facilitate the movement of Inspection Travelers through the Incoming Inspection Department:
- Verify Traveler counts and Part Numbers
- Conduct inspections as defined by CLAM information
- Collaborate with Vendor Quality, Manufacturing, or Design Engineers as necessary to ensure thorough inspections
- Execute Oracle Transactions to transition parts into the Stockroom
- Generate detailed reports on non-conforming materials received from external vendors and the production floor.
- Manage the process for rejected materials:
- Inspect rejected items
- Investigate defects and potential root causes; examine materials on hand for additional issues
- Document inspection outcomes by completing reports and logs, and inputting data into the quality database
- Quarantine and hold materials pending further evaluation
- Ensure calibration and maintenance of inspection tools and equipment is performed
- Adhere to all clean-up and housekeeping protocols. Comply with all quality, safety, and departmental procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficient in the use of inspection tools and gauges such as rulers, calipers, gauges, and micrometers.
- Familiarity with desktop computer applications.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written, in English.
- Adept at analyzing information and reporting research findings.
- Experience with production processes and manufacturing methods for complex cable assemblies, fabricated metal parts, and printed circuit assemblies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, etc.
- Training and experience in Kaizen, Six Sigma, and Lean Principles.
- Familiarity with IPC-610, IPC-600, and IPC-620 standards.
- Solid understanding and experience with pneumatic assembly and testing.
- A background in production or prior military experience in the electronics sector.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to communicate verbally and audibly.
- Frequently required to stand for extended periods with minimal breaks.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 15 pounds, and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
- Regularly required to observe small print, labels, and components.
- Must be present on-site during scheduled shifts to fulfill daily responsibilities.
- Requires daily face-to-face interaction with team members.
Work Environment:
- Typically operates in a temperature-controlled warehouse environment, with occasional exposure to elevated noise levels.
