Position Overview

PeaceHealth is currently seeking a CNA II - Orthopedic Care for a Part-Time, 0.75 FTE, Night shift role. The compensation range for this position is $20.86 – $30.95, influenced by various factors such as education, training, experience, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.

Potential hiring bonuses may be offered.

This role is part of a collective bargaining agreement, and multiple openings may exist.

Role Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a vital role in delivering compassionate and quality patient care by assisting professional nursing staff. This includes performing both direct and indirect patient care tasks under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care as assigned by the Registered Nurse, adhering to the CNA licensure scope.
  • Execute fundamental technical skills, including CPR, monitoring vital signs, managing fluid intake/output, applying dressings, and reporting symptoms of common conditions.
  • Assist patients with personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and mobility needs.
  • Support patients in walking, exercising, and transitioning in and out of bed.
  • Ensure adequate supply levels by restocking patient rooms and supply areas.
  • Document relevant patient care information accurately.
  • May assist with clerical tasks such as order entry and answering phones.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

Education

  • Completion of an accredited Certified Nursing Assistant program is required.

Experience

  • Preferred: At least 1 year of experience in an acute care setting.
  • Required: Graduate from an approved Certified Nursing Assistant program.
  • Required: Demonstrated understanding of age-specific growth and development principles.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Required: Certified Nursing Assistant certification in Oregon.
  • Required upon hire: Basic Life Support certification.

  • Exhibit a courteous and compassionate demeanor towards patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to stay organized, adaptable, and work independently.
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Possess strong communication skills.

Working Conditions

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to handle patients weighing up to 35 lbs. without assistive devices.
  • Frequent lifting and moving of medical equipment.
  • Occasional lifting of non-patient items up to 20 lbs.

Environmental Factors

  • Exposure to biohazards and bodily fluids.
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment.

Mental and Visual Requirements

  • Normal vision and hearing capabilities are required.
  • Effective communication skills are essential for accurate information exchange.
