POSITION OVERVIEW

The Licensed Physical Therapist is tasked with delivering Physical Therapy ("PT") services to a designated group of students. This role is integral to the Multi Disciplinary Teams ("MDT") and requires effective communication and collaboration with team members to facilitate service delivery and enhance student outcomes. The individual in this position must possess substantial knowledge regarding the effective and ethical treatment of individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conducts assessments and documents students' gross motor skills in Reevaluation Reports ("RR") and Individualized Education Plan ("IEP") documents.
  • Identifies student strengths and areas for improvement, formulating appropriate and measurable goals and/or specially designed instruction ("SDI") within the IEP.
  • Develops treatment plans aimed at achieving IEP goals, objectives, and SDI.
  • Provides direct PT services and/or Supports for School Personnel ("SSP") services to a caseload of students as designated by the OT/PT Department supervisor.
  • Monitors student progress through the collection, analysis, and reporting of student data.
  • Submits billing for services rendered in accordance with IEPs and billing protocols.
  • Engages in meetings as necessary to collaborate and strategize with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with families.
  • Participates in professional development initiatives and contributes to staff training and mentoring.
  • Completes additional responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical requirements outlined are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Common movements associated with this position include sitting, walking, standing, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, stooping, and crawling, often for extended periods. The role may necessitate the ability to physically assist clients during potential physical interventions to ensure a safe learning environment.

This position requires an individual to quickly and effectively learn new tasks. Job requirements may frequently change. The ability to comprehend and execute detailed, complex instructions is essential. The incumbent must be able to travel to various locations as required for organizational purposes. The role is subject to indoor environmental conditions.

WORK SCHEDULE

This is a full-time position, subject to management approval, with workdays and hours determined by departmental needs and the student calendar of The Vista School.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Physical Therapy License is mandatory.
  • A minimum of a Master's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution is required.
  • Certification by the National Physical Therapy Exam is necessary.
  • Successful completion of Safe and Positive Approaches ("SAPA") Training is required.
KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES
  • A Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy is highly preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with autism utilizing principles of Applied Behavior Analysis is highly desirable.
  • Exhibits strong leadership, coaching capabilities, and organizational skills.
  • Effectively manages multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving skills in a constructive manner to analyze issues and develop action plans.
