Program Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Director to join our team at Stephen F. Austin State University. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert nutrition counseling and education to student-athletes, as well as developing and implementing sports nutrition programs to enhance athletic performance.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individualized nutrition counseling to student-athletes to optimize their performance and health.
- Develop and implement sports nutrition programs to meet the needs of student-athletes, including meal planning, hydration, and recovery strategies.
- Collaborate with coaches, trainers, and other athletic staff to ensure that student-athletes receive comprehensive support.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in sports nutrition and share knowledge with the athletic department.
- Develop and maintain educational materials, presentations, and other resources to support student-athletes and athletic staff.
- Coordinate with campus dining staff to ensure that student-athletes have access to healthy and nutritious food options.
- Manage fueling stations and distribution of nutritional supplements.
- Provide education and support to student-athletes on achieving and maintaining a healthy body composition and muscle mass.
- Recommend team fueling plans to promote optimal nutrition during travel and competition.
- Coordinate with athletic staff to promote optimal health and well-being for student-athletes.
- Bachelor's degree in nutrition, food science, dietetics, or a related field.
- Two years of related experience in counseling, educating, or teaching nutrition practices.
- Certification as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or ability to obtain certification.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Experience working in a collegiate or professional athletic setting preferred.
- Board certification in sports dietetics (CSSD) preferred.
This is a security-sensitive position subject to criminal record check. This is a safety-sensitive position subject to drug and alcohol testing. This is an IT-sensitive position subject to Computer and Network Security policy.
BenefitsThis position is eligible for participation in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) retirement plan, subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
