Job Description

As an Occupational Health Nurse, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing quality patient care in accordance with hospital and departmental policies
  • Conducting pre-employment physicals on incoming and transferring employees, including basic physical elements and review of medical history
  • Collections and processing biological specimens, documenting recommendations for employee fitness for duty, and notifying HR as needed
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to employee health and safety
  • Utilizing nursing skills to determine level of care for ill or injured colleagues, providing basic first aid as necessary
  • Offering education and resources to promote employee health and wellness, including general healthcare, chronic health problems, occupational health issues, and other wellness topics

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A graduate degree from an accredited school of Nursing (Associates Degree in Nursing or higher)
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state where you practice (or hold an active Compact/Multi-State RN license)
  • A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification
  • No less than 3 years of RN experience, with at least 2 years of experience in Occupational Health
  • Managerial/leadership experience is preferred, but not required
