About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our team at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) as a Cyber Defense Specialist. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge cybersecurity projects and contribute to the development of novel tools and capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement cybersecurity solutions to protect against emerging threats
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop cyber capabilities
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify and mitigate cybersecurity risks
  • Work with sponsors and end users to understand their operational needs and identify requirements
  • Develop and maintain documentation of cybersecurity processes and procedures
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience in one or more programming languages
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, good organizational skills, and the ability to work in teams
  • Ability to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by start date and ultimately obtain a Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing software using Java/Kotlin, Python, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, C/C++, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of geospatial information systems, deep learning, and computer vision
  • Experience in DevSecOps, and/or network security and systems integration
  • Experience with Department of Defense and/or Intelligence Community cyber operations/mission forces
  • Experience in conducting research, development, and testing of cyber capabilities
