Overview:
Abacus Technology is looking for a Network Systems Support Specialist to deliver technical assistance for the SMC Range Network.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer and support services for system servers, user computers, portable devices, and networking infrastructure components.
Conduct and oversee system administration tasks on both virtual and physical data center servers, including web, SQL, and file servers.
Execute server setups, hardware upgrades, power management, software configurations, patch updates, and troubleshoot network connectivity issues. Perform scheduled backups and manage file, database, and server restorations while overseeing the virtual environment.
Offer help desk assistance to clients and authorized mission partners, which includes logging, updating, and resolving all support requests in the designated trouble ticket systems, troubleshooting issues, and providing guidance through various communication methods.
Collaborate with local Communication Squadron personnel and INOSC staff to submit, track, and update network configuration change requests, as well as troubleshoot network-related challenges such as policy modifications, routing problems, server and workstation additions, DNS, DMZ, DISA white lists, and PKI requirements.
Manage inventory for computer equipment, software registrations, and licensing, while taking on the role of Automated Data Processing Equipment (ADPE) Custodian for relevant organizations.
Prepare prioritized lists of hardware and software for procurement, and install and integrate necessary components to sustain the network solution. Establish configuration control for user workstations and servers.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in systems or network administration is required. A Bachelor's degree in a related discipline is preferred. Candidates must possess Security+ CE certification (or an equivalent certification in compliance with DoD 8570 IAT Level II). Familiarity with DoD systems is essential. Significant experience with MS Windows desktop and server operating systems, as well as VMWare support, is necessary. Proficiency in enterprise backup and SAN solutions is required. Experience in providing application support for both COTS and proprietary applications is expected. Candidates should have hands-on experience with software and hardware troubleshooting. A strong customer service orientation, excellent communication skills, and problem-solving capabilities are essential. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and hold a current Secret clearance.
