Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Associate Scientist to join our team at Planet Pharma. As an Associate Scientist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and well-being of animals in our laboratory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Animal Care and Maintenance: Sanitize animal rooms, enclosures, equipment, corridors, and support areas to promote animal health and welfare. Provide nutrition to animals by supplying feed and water.
  • Enclosure Organization and Maintenance: Organize and maintain animal enclosures, supplies, and equipment to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
  • Animal Health Assessment and Treatment: Assess animal health status by gathering and documenting data and observing animals. Administer treatments and euthanize animals as necessary. Maintain records as prescribed by standard operating procedures.
  • Record Keeping and Data Management: Maintain accurate records by collecting and recording data to facilitate management of the facility.
  • Animal Handling and Restraint: Handle and restrain animals using appropriate techniques to ensure safe and humane care.
  • Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Provide weekend and/or holiday animal care as needed.
  • Cross-Training and Coverage: Cross-train in all areas of the facility and provide coverage on an as-needed basis.
  • Waste Management and Supply Processing: Oversee packaging of waste materials sent out for incineration and receive and properly process incoming shipments of supplies and materials.
  • Special Projects: Assist with special projects as needed.
Requirements
  • No Allergies to Animals: No unmanaged allergies to animals.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Ability to closely follow established procedures.
  • Language and Literacy: Ability to read, write, and understand spoken English at an 8th grade level.
  • Physical Demands: The duties of this role are generally conducted in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. Employees must be able, with or without an accommodation, to frequently lift/carry 15/30 pounds unassisted/assisted; stand for prolonged periods of time; walk and move for prolonged periods of time; climb stairs or ladders; gown/degown PPE and uniforms; use a computer with a keyboard and mouse; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Associate or Bachelor degree preferred.
  • Experience: One or more years of experience working in a Laboratory Animal Facility or performing work in a cGMP environment.
