Job Title: Assistant Dance Director

Christ Presbyterian Academy seeks a highly skilled and dedicated Assistant Dance Director to join our team. As a key member of our dance department, you will play a vital role in shaping the artistic vision and direction of our dance programs.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Dance Director in developing and implementing the overall vision and strategy for the dance program.
  • Collaborate with the Dance Director to oversee the Lower, Middle, and Upper School Dance Companies, including instructor management and payment schedules.
  • Assist with annual auditions, creating the dance calendar, setting and overseeing curriculum, goals, and expectations, planning competition experiences, and organizing performances.
  • Partner with the Director to manage the dance budget, approve and order costumes and merchandise, and oversee intensives, masterclasses, and field trips.
  • Teach 3-4 daytime classes, subject to change annually, including Upper and Middle School Dance Company technique classes, Introduction to Dance, and Ballet I.
  • Attend and/or teach after-school practices with the 3 companies as needed.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that ensure authentic and meaningful learning experiences for all students, incorporating differentiated instruction and technology.
  • Assess students using highly effective diagnostic, summative, and formative assessments, and collaborate with the Learning Services department regarding students with specific learning needs.
  • Organize classroom space, materials, and technology to support unit and lesson goals, and create an environment conducive to active and participatory learning.
  • Cooperate with all in-school systems of organization, including test calendars, Moodle, PowerSchool, Atlas, announcements, attendance, and more.
  • Help organize personnel for summer or winter camps.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or commensurate teaching/professional experience (master's degree preferred).
  • Experience in teaching dance technique (ballet, jazz, and tap).
  • Experience in choreographing.
  • Professional dance experience highly valued.
  • A willingness to share Christian testimony and instruct others in the faith.
Technical Competencies and Skills:
  • Possesses strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Works independently with little direct supervision.
  • Works effectively as part of a team.
  • Displays effective multi-tasking and time management skills.
  • Utilizes all required and recommended CPA computer applications.
Physical Requirements:
  • Requires standing and walking intermittently throughout a significant portion of the day (up to 2/3 of the day).
  • Must be able to quickly respond to student need in the event of an emergency, which may require more mobility such as running or physically moving up to at least 20 lbs.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 10 lbs on a regular basis.
