Job Summary

As a Certified Nursing Assistant at CAMC Health System, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care under the direction of a Clinical Nurse. Your responsibilities will include performing various direct patient care activities, procedures, and other indirect services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver Quality Care: Provide quality care to patients as delegated by the Clinical Nurse and according to hospital policy and procedure.
  • Assist with Procedures: Assist with procedures as determined by hospital policy and procedure, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain a Safe Environment: Maintain a neat, clean, and safe patient and unit environment.
  • Provide Optimum Assistance: Provide optimum assistance to the medical and nursing staff by providing/assisting patients with activities of daily living and daily assignments.
  • Orient New Staff: Assist in the orientation of new Nursing Assistants.
  • Respond to Patient Requests: Provide courteous and prompt response to patient requests.
  • Cover the House: May be required to cover the house.
  • Unit Maintenance: Assist with unit maintenance related to ordering and receiving supplies, medications, manuals, and equipment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment, or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages.

Specifically, the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patient.

  • Follow Organizational and Departmental Policies: Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures, as applicable.
  • Perform Related Duties: Perform related duties as assigned.
Education and Credentials
  • High School Diploma or GED: High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Nursing Assistant Certification: Nursing Assist, Cert (Required)
  • Basic Life Support: Basic Life Support (Required) Within 30 days of hire
