Job Summary

Alliant Health Solutions is seeking a skilled Clinical Utilization Review Nurse to join our team. As a member of our professional multi-disciplinary work team, you will perform retrospective reviews of medical records, document clearly the rationale for all review decisions, and evaluate clinical information to approve cases that meet criteria.

The ideal candidate will have strong theoretical clinical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with considerable independence. You will also have excellent customer service, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct medical review of requests for Emergency Medicaid Services provided to aliens to ensure the presence of an emergency according to federal guidelines and state policy.
  • Process EMS requests in the system that require a medical review.
  • Perform reviews accurately and efficiently within time requirements as specified by state requirements, and performs accurate data entry of required review-specific information.
  • Evaluate submitted information and reviews retrospective cases that meet criteria or uses experience and nursing judgment, when appropriate, to approve requests.
  • Render appropriate decisions based on the information received using the established criteria; and clearly and concisely documents the rationale for all decisions rendered.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current North Carolina license
  • Two (2) years of medical utilization review and/or quality assurance experience
  • Three (3) years of clinical experience in more than one patient care setting (ex: hospital, doctor's office, clinic)
