Position Overview:
Skowhegan Savings Bank is seeking a dedicated individual to become a part of our Augusta branch as a Personal Banker. This is a full-time position that requires on-site presence, with a schedule of Monday through Friday and occasional Saturday shifts.
Role Summary:
Under the supervision of the Branch Manager, Personal Bankers are responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while processing various transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, and loan payments. This role is essential in fostering and maintaining strong customer relationships. A Personal Banker is knowledgeable about the Bank's offerings and actively presents additional services to meet the financial needs of clients.
As Personal Bankers gain experience, those at levels III and IV will manage a comprehensive range of banking services, focusing on nurturing and retaining customer relationships for clients with fundamental deposit and lending requirements. Personal Bankers III efficiently handle both routine and complex transactions while adhering to the Bank's Customer Experience standards and may have responsibilities related to vault cash and ATMs. They contribute to the Bank's overall sales growth by engaging customers in discussions about their financial needs and recommending suitable solutions, thereby establishing lasting relationships.
Core Responsibilities:
- Welcome customers and create a customer-centric atmosphere by applying Integrity Customer Service principles.
- Efficiently and accurately process customer transactions in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a balanced cash drawer in compliance with Bank policies.
- Maintain a strong cash balancing record.
- Generate new business and enhance relationships with existing customers by cross-selling Bank products and employing High Definition Banking (HDB) techniques.
- Adhere to HDB customer follow-up procedures when opening new accounts.
- Foster customer loyalty through relationship building and exceptional service.
- Address customer inquiries and concerns by identifying positive solutions or referring them to the appropriate staff.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of end-of-day activities, including branch proofing.
- Manage cash within ATMs, recyclers, and night depositories, including counting and balancing deposits.
- Prepare necessary reports, including Currency Transaction Reports, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure adherence to safety and security policies and procedures.
- Utilize the Bank's Customer Relationship Management tool to oversee customer relationships and facilitate referrals.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance product knowledge and customer service skills.
- Engage in community events to promote the Bank's image and presence in the market.
- Work on a rotating Saturday schedule as assigned.
- Train for additional functions within the Personal Banker role as needed.
- Assume other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED required (exception for high school branch teller).
- One year of experience in retail banking, lending, sales, customer service, or cash handling.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Previous experience in teller or cash handling roles is advantageous.
- Outgoing, assertive, confident, and enthusiastic demeanor.
- Strong multitasking and communication abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in personal computer usage.
- Dependable, flexible, team-oriented, and able to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- General office environment.
- Comfortable physical surroundings.
- Moderate lifting (up to 35 lbs.) and physical activities such as reaching, walking, sitting, and standing are required.
