PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
The role involves operating commercial spraying equipment or floaters to apply agricultural inputs to producer fields. Additionally, the position requires the operation and maintenance of single or tandem axle trucks and various other machinery. All tasks must be performed promptly and accurately to enhance customer satisfaction and uphold the organization's reputation and profitability.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Applies agricultural production inputs to fields and crops in accordance with recommended rates and procedures, while strictly adhering to all pesticide labeling guidelines.
- Accurately records application data in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Prepares material handling, blending, storage, transport, and application equipment for the effective blending and delivery of products.
- Blends products following established rates and procedures.
- Demonstrates proficiency in safely operating sprayers, floaters, single or tandem axle trucks, and other machinery, ensuring compliance with company and DOT standards.
- Conducts daily safety inspections of assigned vehicles and equipment, performing pre-trip checks that include verifying fuel and oil levels, inspecting tires, lights, and brakes.
- Loads and unloads containers, pallets, or materials and products safely onto and off trucks, trailers, or railcars.
- Ensures proper balance and distribution of products on trucks and trailers, maintaining compliance with axle weight regulations.
- Responsible for inventory management and submits application records daily, ensuring all products are accounted for with appropriate documentation.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for the maintenance, repair, rebuilding, and servicing of location equipment, vehicles, and structures as necessary.
- Collects and records soil sample data using established procedures.
- Adheres to GROWMARK's Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, as well as Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA, and DOT policies and procedures as applicable.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent, along with 0-2 years of relevant work experience.
- Must demonstrate essential skills including business acumen, teamwork, communication, customer orientation, decision-making, and professional development.
- Must possess or obtain and maintain a CDL license with necessary endorsements, a satisfactory driving record, and a valid medical card.
- Must hold and maintain, or be able to obtain, all required pesticide or fertilizer applicator licenses or certifications in states where agricultural inputs are applied, and is responsible for renewing licenses or certifications as necessary.
- Ability to work extended hours as business needs dictate.
- Occasionally exposed to or required to work in:
- Extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, wet)
- Noisy environments
- Conditions that may include dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards, necessitating the use of appropriate safety measures
- Heights
- Lifting heavy objects
- Must be willing to participate in required training, which may include education on GROWMARK's policies and procedures, as well as additional training related to the position's requirements.
