Job Summary

The Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist to join our team. As a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist, you will perform procedures and examinations under the direction of radiologists, utilizing your expertise in radiologic technology to produce high-quality radiographic studies.

Responsibilities
  • Perform and document mandatory quality control tests and monitor as required.
  • Assist physicians and other employees in the development and execution of protocols.
  • Maintain and update protocols and procedures in a current manual or retrieval system.
  • Assist and develop training programs for new technologists, physicians, residents, students, and general clinical staff in the General Diagnostic Section.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with the teleradiology group to ensure that all images are of acceptable quality and orders/Images are transferred successfully on each case.
  • Participate in lectures and demonstrations relating to the technical and clinical operations of Diagnostic Radiology when necessary.
  • Initiate procedures to replenish stock and to retrieve stock Items and supplies required to perform work.
Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM. Telework: Not Available. Virtual: This is not a virtual position.

Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
  • Must participate in the seasonal influenza vaccination program and the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination program.
Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.

United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

English Language Proficiency: DRTs must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d).

Certification: All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography (ARRT) (R).

Education: Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months in duration (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from other accrediting agencies as recognized by the Department of Education (DOE).
