The Cirrus Design Corporation Research & Development team is responsible for developing new components and technologies for evaluation on next-generation aircraft. The primary responsibility of the Research & Development Assembly Technician will be to assemble and install parts and systems, as well as fabricate components using various processes and methods.
Key Responsibilities- Assemble precision aircraft parts using a broad skillset
- Verify accuracy using precision measuring instruments
- Work from mental concepts, verbal instructions, hand-sketches, or blueprints
- Utilize strong creative skills and attention to detail
- Envision the full process of the build – layout through installation
- Safely use hand and power tools, including drill presses, sanders, and grinders
- Operate various manual and pneumatic riveting equipment, such as squeezes, guns, and bucking bars
- Collaborate with a diverse team to develop technologies and designs
- possess a solid understanding of general airplane architecture, including airframe, powerplant, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Hold a general understanding of metal fabrication and composites
- This position may involve leading a small team of technicians
- 3-5 years of combined schooling and industry experience
- Aerospace, manufacturing, industrial, or Machine Technology degrees preferred
- No licenses are required for this position, but industry certificates, such as Airframe & Powerplant or ASE Automotive, are considered a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is a must, and knowledge of CAD software, such as PTC Creo, is preferred
