Job Description

At Royal Oaks, we are seeking a skilled Cook 2 to join our culinary team. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a wide variety of meats, vegetables, soups, breakfast dishes, and other food items in large quantities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work on the line preparing, cooking, and plating foods sent through from the restaurant, following the kitchen manual and directions from the Chef in charge.
  • Prepare food items such as cutting, peeling, chopping, and slicing fruits and vegetables, as well as cutting meats and fish.
  • Carve and display meats, vegetables, fruits, and salads, and replenish service lines as necessary.
  • Use various cooking techniques, including baking, broiling, frying, grilling, steaming, braising, boiling, and pressure cooking.
  • Check food cooking and holding temperatures on a regular basis, ensuring proper holding and storing temperatures are reached, maintained, and recorded.
  • Test foods being cooked for quality and ensure all equipment and utensils used in food preparation are clean and sanitized.
  • Maintain a continuous state of cleanliness and provide staff with information regarding taste, nutrient content, and preparation of daily menu items.
  • Prepare special and modified diets according to prescribed standards and attend to day-to-day problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum two years' experience working in a high-volume restaurant.
  • Minimum one year experience working on a cook's line in a high-volume restaurant.
  • Minimum two years' experience basic knife skills.
  • Minimum two years' experience doing high-volume prep cook duties, including cutting and chopping meats, fish, fruits, and vegetables.
