Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our Engineering Services Team as a Part-Time US/Japan Missile Defense Liaison. This role will involve working closely with the Japanese Ministry of Defense to advance the development and deployment of missile defense systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent the Missile Defense Agency in official dealings with the Japanese Ministry of Defense, ensuring effective communication and collaboration on missile defense initiatives.
  • Work with the MDA Advanced Architectures, Advanced Concepts Evaluation Team to evaluate emerging advanced concepts and technologies, and make recommendations for new concept demonstrations and potential inclusion in future deliveries of Missile Defense System elements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the Japanese Ministry of Defense, including senior-level officials and technical experts.
  • Provide technical advice and support to the MDA Director of Advanced Concepts Evaluation and the MDA Chief Architect on matters related to missile defense and technical analysis of complex Department of Defense weapon systems.
  • Collaborate with the MDA and Japanese Ministry of Defense to identify and address technical challenges and opportunities in the development and deployment of missile defense systems.
Requirements
  • Fluency in written and spoken Japanese, with the ability to conduct technical discussions.
  • A bachelor's degree in a technical field such as engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, or computer science.
  • At least 20 years of full-time professional experience in a technical field related to missile defense and/or technical analysis of a complex Department of Defense (DoD) weapon system.
  • Must be eligible to obtain or have an active TOP SECRET clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Must be able to work at our customer site on Fort Belvoir in Fairfax County, Virginia.
  • United States citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in missile defense, with experience in one or more of the following areas: Aegis weapons system, technical analysis of complex DoD weapon systems, or liaison/representative experience between the US government and Japan.
  • Understanding of the Japanese Ministry of Defense planning and acquisition cycle, as well as familiarity with Japanese customs and culture.
  • Experience interacting with and advising senior-level government customers, with skill in generating briefings, white papers, and presenting information at the executive level.
