About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Calibration Engineer to join our team at KMC. As a Calibration Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise in engine calibration and deployment from prototype stage through production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement fuel injection calibrations to achieve emissions and performance targets
  • Recommend changes to calibration strategies, testing procedures, or engine hardware to achieve target objectives
  • Perform standardized, prescribed, or diverse test assignments while maintaining detailed test records
  • Set up and instrument calibration vehicles and engines
  • Utilize precision test equipment and measurement devices
  • Communicate with departments within KMC and suppliers to discuss schedules, program needs, and test data
  • Travel to test locations and suppliers as needed
  • Coordinate test vehicles and necessary test equipment
  • Participate in vehicle test sessions in different locations
  • Handle project documentation according to specified processes
  • Perform release procedures for software at different sample stages and final production software
  • Validate calibration under various factors
  • Develop test plans to provide detailed evaluations of various engine control systems
  • Lead vehicle or dyno-based attribute assessment for engine control systems and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Detail instrumentation and test requirements to technicians
  • Refine and run powertrain models to characterize system interactions and sensitivities, as well as to develop or assess controls requirements and calibration approaches
  • Check data quality and correct problems when issues are found
  • Interpret results and assimilate findings into a documented summary
  • Develop functional guidelines for engine control systems
  • Communicate results and conclusions with interfacing activities and management
Requirements
  • Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering degree
  • Emphasis with controls systems a plus
  • 6+ years of experience with engine calibration or similar
  • Knowledge of fuel injection calibration strategies and technologies
  • Knowledge of data acquisition systems and sensors
  • Thorough understanding of CANbus Communication
  • Proficient with ETAS, INCA, and MDA
  • Knowledge of combustion analysis tools
  • Experience with Engine Test Bed & Dynamometer Automation
  • Knowledge of Design of Experiments
  • Model-based Calibration experience a plus
