Position Overview:


As a Medical Assistant at Trinity Health, you will play a crucial role in diagnosing and treating patients by assisting healthcare professionals in identifying their medical needs.

Your expertise, combined with our advanced technology, will enable you to assess urgent situations and initiate necessary emergency protocols when required.

Utilizing your organizational abilities, you will ensure that all documentation is meticulously managed within our electronic medical record system.


To excel in this position, you must establish trust through professionalism and a strong work ethic in all interactions. Your comprehensive knowledge of your responsibilities, coupled with a desire for continuous learning, will be vital. You will maintain accurate records and possess a thorough understanding of the current electronic medical record system. Upholding confidentiality is paramount, and you will ensure a tidy workspace while performing initial patient check-ins according to established guidelines.

Most importantly, you will recognize the significance of your role in the patient care process and be motivated to contribute to their recovery.


Daily Responsibilities:
1. Review medical records and gather relevant information prior to patient visits.

2. Prepare patients for examinations and facilitate smooth patient flow.

3. Conduct tests and procedures, write and prepare prescriptions using electronic physician signatures.

4. Assist with patient transfers.

5. Monitor and replenish medication supplies.


Demonstrate adaptability while maintaining a high standard of courtesy and cooperation with colleagues, patients, and visitors, ensuring satisfactory performance even in a high-pressure medical environment.


LPN Responsibilities:
1. Identify and assess urgent/emergency patient needs and initiate appropriate emergency responses.

2. Stay informed about various payer regulations and operate within those guidelines.

3. Facilitate communication among interdisciplinary teams, utilizing other healthcare professionals in patient assessments and data analysis. Assess the learning needs of patients and their families, providing accurate and comprehensive information.

4. Adhere to clinic protocols for managing electronic medical records, including test results and documentation.

5. Evaluate patient and family comprehension of treatment plans and instructions.

6. Assist with various procedures and the operation of diagnostic equipment as assigned.

7. Maintain aseptic techniques during preparation and administration of medications.

8. Document all patient interactions accurately in the electronic medical record.

9. Communicate results and relevant information to patients and healthcare team members.

10. Perform basic nursing functions under the supervision of a provider.

11. Ensure a professional appearance of patient examination and procedure areas.

Qualifications:


1. Successful completion of an accredited medical assistant program.


2. Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is required within the first year of employment.

3. Completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to the population served within three months of hire.


4. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers must be obtained by the end of the orientation period.


5. A valid Driver's/Chauffeurs License is required, and candidates must meet Mercy's Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

6. Completion of a Cardiovascular Medical Terminology course within one year of hire.

LPN Qualifications:
1. Current LPN license issued by the State of Iowa.

2. Preferred experience in a clinic or physician office setting.

3. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers must be obtained within three months of hire.

4. Completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to the population served within three months of hire.
