Position Overview

Rutgers University is seeking a dedicated Practical Nursing Specialist to join our NJMS-Pediatrics-Adolescent Medicine team. This role is pivotal in providing comprehensive care to adolescents and young adults (AYAs) under the supervision of a physician and an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN).

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver patient care in accordance with established protocols and the professional standards set by the American Nurses Association.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, including OSHA, CLIA, Title X, CDC, DEA, and the New Jersey Department of Public Health.
  • Adhere to documented workflows related to LPN duties, including follow-up and referral processes.
  • Collaborate effectively with clinic staff and management to foster a positive working environment.
  • Assist physicians in ordering laboratory tests and diagnostics within the Epic EHR system, ensuring that specimens are collected prior to patient discharge.
  • Support the physician in managing pregnancy-related follow-ups and abnormal results.

Work Schedule
Full-time position with a daily work shift during the day.

Compensation
The annual salary for this position is $65,000, with standard working hours set at 40 per week.

Qualifications
  • Must possess a valid registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
  • Essential skills include phlebotomy and physical assessment.
  • Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements and Good Clinical Practices guidelines is required.
  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work with diverse populations are essential.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills are necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is required.
  • Fluency in Spanish is mandatory.
  • Experience working with adolescent and young adult populations in sexual and reproductive health is highly preferred.

Work Environment
This position operates in a clinic and office setting with moderate noise levels. Physical demands include standing, sitting, and walking, with the ability to lift up to ten (10) pounds.
